Guns & Drugs 02:55
Why would anybody want to be like this? Who the hell would make a man in this likeness? Taking up the stand that he’s righteous A joke being spoke through a throat Corrupted, turning up the screws on this madness They spin our lives like a top upon their axis Ready but unsteady Yeah, I really need the practice To choke, tie a rope Get united, undivided Entire populations roped into a habit No escape because it’s woven in the fabric Bound and shackled to a scheme so elaborate Broke, loving dope like a ghost It’s so simple they’re just telling you to say no Ain’t no poppy fields be growing in the ghetto, though Shipping symptoms to a sickness that won’t let go Black like a match Feel the burning for the batch Never let another try to smother you Like when you’re in the gutter being other Than you ought It takes a lot of love, a lot of patience Even if you’re young or if you’re ancient We should bust it and replace it Catalogue it and deface it Weave a Webb of who’s complicit CIAin’t just gonna quit it I Mena know just what they did We’re gonna blow the lid It’s just the beginning The world is burning while they’re earning But, now we’re winning And the sun is setting On the sin of sucking The life from the living The might from the giving In the fight for beginnings

Empire 03:03
Pick your head up and look at all the faces The wrong people in all the wrong places Intentionally pissing on the sacred If I were me I’d be mad at all the fascists Popping on a clown mask for corporations Casting shadows in the fairest of all places Fuck banks and their predatory papers Can’t even look us in the eye while they rape us Give you deficit but never share the surplus They’re trying to swallow every little bit of me But, I’m a warrior fighting to be free And I will be free They’re trying to swallow every little bit of my hide Until my very last breath, I’ll fight To defy Empire North, West, Southern, and the Eastern I’m breathing fire can’t you see my teeth burn They don’t know it now but they’re gonna learn
3.
WHT PPL 03:03
White ppl got feelings, too But they definitely ain’t no better than you The same sparkle coming off of you is true for me, too. We’re just ppl living in a skin Shouting ‘bout the difference in the melanin Somebody tryin’ to throw the switch again So let’s not let ‘em Seen the shepherds digging into you Firehose pummeling you black & blue Hanging tree suffocates the justice due I know you’re feeling like we let you down Stood around while they beat you down Saw it all but didn’t make a sound But, we can’t look ahead if we’re turned around [We got the]Same insides, same mind Making light and dark. Not apart Now is where we are Rotating around the same old star Escape from the myths of what we were and why They’re dividing us by design Who let the ppl writing history Build a barricade between you and me? They try to tell us we ain’t family but my blood is no enemy How long we hanging on this precipice? Face to face with oppressive fists Identify the proper culprits and put an end to it Same insides, same mind Making light and dark. Not apart Now is what we are Rotating around the same old star Escape from the myths of what we were and why Fight back with all of our might

Buckle Up 03:52
Souls playin’ roles poke holes in the stratosphere High flyin’ minds tryin’ to make it be better here Keepin’ on course to the source where the force is finded Blinded by light be reminded Patterns paint worlds with wands interspacially Golden Means everything is sided geometrically Odds in favor of Gods making merrily Defined and refined - it’s Divine We’ll be comin’ round the bend instead Of runnin’ out of tread on the straightaway (Don’t) turn back. Turn the clock ahead This present is paced like it was before But, this time there’s more Buckle up, baby, for the center of the galaxy Sun shinin’ brighter ‘cause it’s beamin’ right back at me Darkness fading like a fog streamin’ out to sea This forward is toward possibility
5.
War 03:07
They say that war is undeniable A necessary part of life But, I’m not so sure Because they’re making profits from their might While funding both sides of the fight You know that that ain’t right They hang a flag above their heads Next to their trophies on a shelf But, don’t be fooled by appearances They have one concern and that’s themselves They pay no mind to our living hell Because they got more murder to sell Collecting claims that they could never take If love ruled those who habitat This world, a place where our energies Should be out into good Trying to save instead of maim All of this destruction done in our name Well, that’s about to change War is a game that those in power play But, they write the rules so they never lose Brush the pieces on the board away They’re replaceable by millions more It’s not our cause we’re fighting for Notice how you’re getting less Always giving more But, who the hell is keeping score? And what for? Isn’t this war?
6.
I run on all fours. A beast in some worlds A gross anatomy Long-lived in limbo, the grace awaits, though A fate I just can’t shake There’s an aggregate. It’s definite A kismetic puzzle where the pieces fit But, I’m alone with you. All alone with you I feel fortunate that the way was writ A little slit, I found another seat to sit This is where we dance. This is circumstance No sleep but slumber. Awaking others To a tale that just won’t end Ain’t no reason for this rhyme that I’ve been searching for This time with you is nothing more Than waiting for this fate to run its course Standing alone in front of god is what I’m hoping for This time it’s closer than before I made it all the way but I’ll wait another day I’m a delicate, compassionate invertebrate With skeletal coordinates Where I’m a stowaway trying to show a way A defiant sun in the sky at night Rising when I oughtn’t try to shine the light Because I’m brighter than what I’m residing in Always trying to put up a fight it’s the loving that will move us along
7.
In A Cage 03:05
I’m in a cage in a rage. Wide-eyed, wearied face Stood straight, subordinate Better toe the line and know your place Don’t cross or you get the boss He’s leadin’ and he’s never lost I’m all broke, can’t spoke Captain on a sunk boat with a raincoat But, I’ve survived worse than this My faith decides just how it is and so it is. Fightin’ fire with fire instead of water You oughtta wake up a weak mind Gettin’ higher we gotta Get up and better your brother ‘Cause it’s about time I miss soft and locks off Gotta keep my guard at all costs Handcuffed for standing up I am we that’s my business ’m strong and switched on A proud beast with a leash on Some sons will overcome It won’t be long until we’re singing our songs We make up the best of this Igniters and accomplices that’s who we is This is what we know We could end up in a hole But that’s not the way to go ‘cause Nothing gets rehabilitated That’s exactly how these devils played it Fortune favors foolish fiends who crave it And would do anything to make it These hours, days, weeks, and years These powers made you disappear are gone And it’s wrong
8.
Lucky 04:00
Thinking that your love had passed me by Wondering aloud if I should’ve fought a better fight Erasing everything to get it out of my mind I’m stranded in the place that I end up in everytime With a firm indifference to the pain Of learning the wrong way to never doing it again To be alive is not something you should hide from At death, you need to know that it meant something I’m luckier for you And the thing we tried to do I like where I’ve been but I love where I’m going to Itching like skin cancer on the face of the sun I frown upon the settle down So I end up with no one You live, you die, laugh, you cry, donate, deny, why? You do what’s best for the self inside Do what’s right because now is nigh I’m luckier for you And the things you put me through I’m grateful, enabled Engaging the known and the new I know you really wanna put your hand on my heart I really wanna tell you I’m sorry we broke apart
9.
Up In Smoke 02:49
There’s a feeling that we all should know It’s the ultimate in letting go It’ll feed your soul and free your mind Be food or fuel to the poor and heal the blind It’ll never ever let you down Open from the root right up through the ground There’s no reason for this made up illegality No one has ever been harmed by this deity Unlike your pharmacy

about

Doug Hawk Easton, Pennsylvania

This is intelligent, inspiring, grooving music that not only makes you think but move, as well. Lyrically topical with a positive message. Comparisons to artists such as Stevie Wonder, Jamiroquai and Steely Dan are accurate but in a purely derivative sense. Hawk has emphatically created his own unique sound. ... more
